A healer does not heal you.  A healer is someone who holds a space for you while you awaken your inner healer, so that you may heal yourself.

Holistic wellness is at the core of every massage therapy session.  Depending on your health goals, each session may integrate elements of stabilization bodywork, relaxation, and refined energy techniques.

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is the best-known and most popular type of massage therapy.  It utilizes mild, moderate or deeper strokes on the back, arms, legs, neck and other body parts to target tissues and muscles for maximal pain relief, stress release and relaxation.  Swedish massage is given to increase blood circulation, easing the tension in the body’s muscles and improving the muscles’ flexibility. It stimulates the skin as well as the nervous system to soothe the nerves, reducing both emotional and physical stress.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage focuses on the deeper tissue structure of the muscles and affects the connective tissue, known as fascia.  It helps with both small muscle injuries as well as chronic problems.  Deep tissue massage is an excellent way to deal with a whiplash or sports injury, postural misalignment, and muscle spasms as well as muscle tension.

Neuromuscular Therapy

Neuromuscular therapy is a form of soft tissue manipulation that aims to treat underlying causes of chronic pain involving the muscular and nervous systems. This medically-oriented form of massage addresses trigger points (tender muscles points), circulation, nerve compression, postural issues, and biomechanical problems that can be caused by repetitive movement injuries.

Sports Massage

Sports massage emphasizes prevention and healing of injuries to the muscles and tendons.  It was developed to help athletes prepare their bodies for optimal performance, recover after a big event, or function well during training.  People with injuries, chronic pain or restricted range of motion also benefit from the concentrated techniques utilized in sports massage.

Pregnancy Massage

Massage therapy during pregnancy is a healthy way to reduce stress and can relieve many of the normal discomforts experienced during pregnancy, such as backaches, sciatic nerve pain, leg cramps, headaches and edema (or swelling). It also reduces stress on weight-bearing joints and helps to relax nervous tension, which can help relieve depression or anxiety caused by hormonal changes.

Subtle Energy Healing

Subtle energies underlie the workings of traditional healing modalities.  As the dynamic infrastructure of the body, each person has unique patterns of energy that are directly related to their health and well being.  My training in Reiki, Polarity Therapy, Esoteric Healing, and Therapeutic Touch is utilized to help balance and restore the deeper energetic patterns that can manifest as stress, anxiety, and other chronic conditions.
